Feeling Guilty

Easter should be a time to celebrate, and well, this year it kinda just snuck up on me. While I managed to get them gifts for their baskets and dresses to wear for the day, I did NOT manage to take them to the Easter bunny, or dye eggs. Now that the girls are tucked in bed, I feel guilty. No Easter Bunny for them, and no eggs to dye? What kind of mother am I? A busy one, I guess. I keep reminding myself that the reason this did not happen was because we were busy doing other FUN things, like celebrating friend's birthdays, going to Disney on Ice, playing soccer with friends, watching the Jayhawks lose in the company of great friends, spending days with friends we haven't seen in awhile, etc. but it still feels bad. I wonder when/if life is ever going to slow down enough so that I can feel like I have time to do it all. Until then, I am going to have to be thankful that they have an awesome Grandma who had a great Easter Party for them, a wonderful Easter celebration with extended family and that some genius invented plastic eggs, so we can still at least have an egg hunt =0) Maybe someday we will have time to dye eggs...maybe.

When All Else Fails...

These two give me a daily dose of smiles. Love them. Love their silliness, and even their crazy ideas. I mean really, why shouldn't we wear lifejackets and goggles in the bathtub everyday? It might just make our lives more fun, too!

Oops...

After writing yesterday's post about loving days spent at home, I realized something a bit catastrophic.
This girl is  may be enrolled in a few too many Spring activities. This means so is her MAMA. Here is the itinerary: swimming on Mondays, T-ball sometime during the week, soccer every Saturday, gymnastics on Tuesdays and of course school all day every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I think after nearly 3 years straight we are going to give swimming lessons a little breaky break. Otherwise we might all be having a breakdown. Afterall, these are just her activities. Reese is busy, too!

My Favorite Kind of Day

I never thought I would reach the point in my life where I am now, but I have. More and more as my kids get older and truly enjoy the company of one another and the opportunity to play with their toys, my favorite  kind of day entails staying home often in our jammies and just taking it easy. Nothing is difficult about days like these. Everybody gets to do what they want. There is no rush to get here or there and there is time to spend quality time with them. I kinda like it. What I like even better is when some of our friends decide to join us for a few hours. I am thankful that I have friends who do not mind joining us even if we are in our jammies and impressing them is the least of my worries. Life on days like these are pretty grand. If only we could have more of them, life would be even better!

Even Lions and Princesses Need to Eat Sometimes...

The Wheels On The Bus...

Go round and round. Even if you don't have a real "bus" to ride in. These girls don't mind. They just make believe. Love these girls. Love their imagination. All four of them. So thankful for such great friends for not only myself, and my husband, but my girls too. Definitely a win-win for all!

Spring Break Fun

Friday was the start of Spring Break for my kiddos and with that I decided to make the week a little extra fun. Today, we went to the mall to ride the "wrigley go round", go to American Girl and then we met up with Daddy to make our own herb garden at Family Tree Nursery. Of course, we all had to return home in time to cheer for our Jayhawks!

One Lucky Mama

I know it may be cliche, but days like today, I feel totally blessed to be the person I am, to live the life I live and to have all the wonderful things in my life that I have. I really couldn't ask for more. This beautiful weather brought out the best of me today, and after spending the afternoon basking in its wonders in my backyard while my girls play together beautifully I can't help but love my life. Yep, I may have struggles, yep, my Mama may have an incurable cancer that she continues to struggle with, yep my Dad is still and more than likely always will be an alcholic and yep, my life with my friends may not be perfect. BUT, the bottom line is at the end of the day,  I have the two things that matter the most: My loving husband (who puts up with me even though there are times he shouldn't)  and my beautiful, silly, crazy girls. What more could a Mama ask for? If you ask me, not much. Especially when they  all as cute at this one =0)

Overheard Words

One of the best things I love about being a Mama  is getting to hear the crazy, silly things that my girls have to say. Take for example this:

Nora's Spring Break started today and so, since Reese had school but she did not, a special day was in order for Nora. Nora decided she wanted to take donuts to her daddy and all of his "friends" at Auto Now and so we did. While there, Nora had to go to the bathroom. As I was standing in there with her she proceeded to watch the poop come out of her butt. One ball at a time she counted the poop. "One. two, oh look Mom theres three....I just made a snowman!
Later on we were back at home and Nora had to poop again. She always tells me when she has to go, and this time she said, "Mom. I have to go poop". I said, "okay, tell me when you are done" to which she replied, "I hope I don't make a snowman again"!

Mass Chaos Otherwise Known as Bowling with Littles

We spent the morning bowling. And while it was indeed a great time, bowling with 7 children under the age of 5 proved to be quite the challenge. I think some things are meant to happen in smaller groups. Maybe bowling is one of them?!?

Regardless, of the chaos, it was great catching up with old friends. These two are just too sweet. And while little was said between the two of them, I am pretty certain they too had a great time!

My Silly Jayhawks!

One benefit to having a Daddy with business connnections?!? Annual tickets to the Big 12 Championship. Here the girls are enjoying a good time. This was Reese's first time going and let me tell  you she was quite the cheerleader...at least until half time when the highlight of the game (the halftime dance show) didn't happen =0( After that she was more into hanging out in the hallway pretending to be a cheerleader herself than rooting on her favorite team =0)

Potty Time

With Reese approaching the ripe age of three (in a few months) and showing signs of wanting to potty train I decided it was time to take the plunge and get it done. Today was day one and although we have yet to pee in the potty, I am going to hope that we are making progress. Stay tuned. Hopefully in a few days we can say we are diaper free!!

Princess

Today is yet another sick day at the Miller's. The girls and I were hanging out watching television when I overheard them having the following conversation:
Nora: Hey, what is your name?
Reese: (as confident as can be) Princess
Nora: No, your name is Reese.
Reese: NO, I PRINCESS!
Nora: Alright Reese, you can be Princess, but really, you are Reese.

Reese

Everyday at the Miller's is an adventure. Especially if Reese is around. For every part, honest, sincere and by the rules that Nora is, Reese is the complete oposite. And to be quite honest, while having something a little more than ornery running around the house, does indeed keep me on my toes, most days, it is also all too funny. Take for example the text I received from Grandma while the girls were staying with her:
Grandma: (while taking the girls to gymnastics one day after Reese had gotten over the stomach flu) I open the owl backpack (diaper bag) and what do I find? The diapers and wipes have been replaced with stuffed animals! Should have looked before we left the house! Hope I don't need them before we get home.
Me: Proof Reese is feeling better. Jokes on you, Grandma!
Grandma: Always learning!
Or when yesterday, when I was busy making cookies for church and realized that it was a bit too quiet, I went to check on the girls and found this:
Shortly after this, apparently the swim attire over the princess dress while sitting on beach towels wasn't enough because Reese decided to add a little winter attire to the mix:

Goofy, goofy girl!
