Not Much Going on Here....

Not much has been going on here. Just a little bit of swimming, some fun with friends, a weekend at HOME to catch up on things,a trip to bitty baseball (to watch Nolan and Carson) and time spent with Aunt Molly. Anybody ever wonder who Nora looks like? Here is your answer!

Father's Day 2010

Life around here has been pretty good. The little lady is becoming more and more of a "big" girl and as a result she and her Daddy are doing more and more together. As I sit back and watch the relationship he has with his little girl evolve, I have fallen in love all over again with Ryan . Something about seeing Nora doing fun things with her Daddy makes my heart melt. I must say that although there are times that I would rather kill the man than live another day dealing with some of his quirkiness, most of the time I know that WE are TWO lucky girls.
We spent the weekend at the lake. Nora loved every moment of it. We spent time as a family swimming, boating, sliding down the slide on the dock, riding jet-ski's and for her first time ever, TUBING. Yep, thats right. Our little lady (with her Daddy) rode on the tube for the first time.

Big Girl Bed You've Got Nothing On My Little Girl

Nora has officially transitioned to her big girl bed. Going to sleep has been no challenge what-so-ever for three nights now. She is still  given the choice as to which bed she wants to sleep in for naps, but not for night time sleeping. Now if we can just get Nanna (aka Patty) to make the switch with us, nap times will soon be spent in the big girl bed as well. I must say I am quite proud of my "big" little girl.

A Girl and Her Shoes

Nora is suddenly in LOVE with her dress up shoes. A little too much. Convincing her to wear anything else today has been nothing but a struggle and since this Mamma chooses to pick her battles, she has had them on since I came home from work. She may not be all girl, but I can definitely feel some "princess" sneaking out of her these days!

Big Girl Bed Revisited

Nora has had issues sleeping since we returned from the lake over Memorial Weekend. Like always, it is only with me. She will nap just fine for the babysitter, her aunt, etc. Every night she has been screaming bloody murder when it comes time to go to  bed, but eventually falls asleep. Tonight was no different. However, for whatever reason, Ryan decided to go up and deal with the situation. The end result? She went right to her big girl bed, laid down and went to sleep. No fussing, no trying to get out of bed, no fear of the bed. NOTHING!! I'm not sure what changed the little girl's mind, but I have a feeling I know who will be putting her to bed from now on =0) !!

Silly Sayings From the Little Lady:

My little lady never ceases to amaze me. Today, my friend, Dorothy came over to spend the day with us. Nora has reached the point where she can say just about anything Nora has been able to say Dorothy for quite some time due to the fact that the fish on her favorite show, Elmo's World has the same name. Today out of nowhere after calling Dorothy by name, Nora decided to take it upon herself to start calling Dorothy "Fishy". So, needless to say, Dorothy has a new nickname. No longer will we be callling her Dorothy, she is FISHY! Silly silly girl, I wonder what you will come up with next!

Big Girl Bed, You WIN.

Big Girl Bed, you WIN. Clearly the little lady is not in love with you quite yet. It has taken her too long, too many nights to fall asleep. This transition sucks and so we are reverting back to sleeping in the baby bed. Hopefully with a little time the little lady will get over her fears of you and decide that sleeping in her baby bed is sooo not cool. Until then, I am afraid we will be going back to our five minute bedtime routine vs. our 2.5 hours and still not asleep routine. Afterall, this Mamma really is not ready for her little lady to grow up anyway!

Dear Big Girl Bed...

you are not my friend. Nor are you Nora's. In fact you quite possibly might be our first real struggle in getting Nora to cooperate with a transition. So many things in life have been sooo easy for the little lady. The binky went bye-bye with no problem, the transition from our room to the crib happened in a night, but NO, not the transition to sleeping in you. Of course, it can't be easy. Afterall this Mamma is not one bit tired and wishing to have my evenings to relax. Instead my little lady is TERRIFIED of sleeping in you, clings to her Mamma for dear life and pleads for me to stay in bed with her. Of course, I secretely don't want to let go of my baby quite yet, so I am having a hard time being firm and not laying in bed with her. Afterall, I only have a few more months of having just one little lady, and I am not quite ready for that yet. For my own sanity though, big girl bed, please, please, please make tomorrow night's rouine just a little bit shorter. Afterall 2 hours is a LONG time to have to spend getting my little lady to go to sleep. Afterall, you know, I coudl just say to hell with you and just let the little lady go back to sleeping in her baby bed =0)
