Happy Halloween...

From the cutest clown and pumpkin ever, we hope you have a great day!!

One Month

The smallest lady of our home celebrated her 1st month of life yesterday. It is SO hard to believe that she has been here this long already, but I have to be honest, it has been ONE.LONG. MONTH. Overall things have been going fairly well. Although she is not quite the sleeper her sister was, she is doing fairly well, and believe it or not we had one night where she slept through the entire night. I was AMAZED, but knew it was probably a fluke so I didnt get my hopes up too high =0) She also continues to grow like a weed. Last night I was getting her ready for bed and Ryan and I were checking her out. I said to him "look how big she is getting already" and he said, "she better slow down or she is going to outgrow her sister". I honestly can see this happening, and if she doesnt slow down, it is going to be really soon! (Yesterday I weighed her on our bathroom scales and it said she weighed around 12 lbs!!) Some other things going on in the little lady's life is stomach problems. They stink, they make her cranky and we cannot figure out how to make them better. The best we have done so far, is to hold her every.single.night. in the sling from about 7pm until midnight. IF we are lucky, then she goes to bed and does not have a knockdown dragout screaming fit during the night and if not, then if she has one, she is likely to have several more making for one looooonnnnngggg night. The doctor says this is perfectly "normal" though and that around three months (at the latest) her digestive system should mature a little more and things will get better. Overall, she is a very, very sweet baby that we are sooo blessed to have.
On another note, life has been rough for big sister. Overall she wants to be helpful and is from time to time, but she struggles with the amount of time that Reese demands from her Mommy. Nora has regressed in some areas and has become MUCH more whiny than she ever was before. Everyday I hope that it will get better, but so far it continues to be quite the challenge considering I CANNOT stand whining. The other day when I was having a really challenging day, I called Ryan and told him there was no way we could expect anybody to watch our children because if they were not my own I would have thrown them out the window. Thank goodness those days are few and far between and I had just had a bible lesson on realizing the positves when everything in life seems impossible. I cant tell you how many times I had to tell myself, "thank you God that I have these beautiful, healthy children that are able to do things to drive me crazy"!

Let the Madness Begin- Potty Tranining

I have to be honest. I have been guilty of putting off potty training Nora primarily because our life has been nothing but chaos. Shes ready and has been for quite some time. I, however am NOT. Last night I went to put Nora to bed and she told me she was going to pee in the toilet. Thinking it was her excuse to come back downstairs, I said, okay, lets go pee in Mommy's toilet. She said okay and so off we went. She climbed right up onto the toilet, no little Dora seat, no potty chair, and peed in the toilet. I was shocked and PROUD. She was sooo happy for herself. This morning when she first woke up I asked her if she wanted to potty in the toilet and she told me yes. She headed for my bathroom, climbed right up on the toilet and did it again. I guess my days of diapering two children at once are coming to a close. I can't believe how big my "little" lady is getting! Wish us luck. I dont have a lot of patience these days =0)

Conversations from the little lady

Today Nora, Reese and I went to the vet to pick Petey (our dog) from the vet. When we were leaving, like every dog, prior to getting in the car, Petey stopped to pee on the rocks. Nora noticed this and the conversation proceeded like this:
Nora: Mamma, Petey's peeing on the rocks.
Me: Yes Nora, he is. He's a dog, he pees on rocks.  Come on and lets get in the car.

I proceeded to walk to the car, leaving Nora behind me.
Nora: Mamma, I pee on the rocks like Petey
I turn around to see Nora on the ground like a dog, with her rear leg hiked pretending to pee on the rocks. I about died laughing, but was honestly thankful that she was this way and not squatting with her diaper off!

Deanna Rose

Yesterday my Mamma had to leave and go home. Typical of me, to keep my mind off of things, I chose to stay busy. The result was Nora and I meeting my friend, Jenna and her twins at Deanna Rose Farmstead. This place quite possibly may be my absolute favorite place to take Nora, and like every other time we have been, the trip was a success.

A Few Setbacks

Since Reese has been born we have had a few setbacks in Nora's development. Expected? Yes, but wow its amazing how much it has affected her. Case in point? This picture:
Do you see what is wrong? No? Well its the fact that Nora has a binky in her mouth. She has not had one for MONTHS. Every since Reese started taking one, Nora has taken it upon herself to steal it from Reese and help herself to it. Lovely. Just lovely.

The Sweetest Thing

Our dog, Casey has some issues. One of them is that she has a soft trachea which causes her to breath rather strange from time to time. It sounds like she is going to throw-up, however, she never does. When this happens there is nothing you can do to make it better and usually within a minute or so she is back to breathing normally. Today she was laying on her bed when this happened and before I knew it I heard Nora over there talking to Casey. I looked over at the bed and saw Nora down on the floor hugging Casey and telling her "its okay, Casey, I hold you". I love my little girl. Although there are times lately where the increased whining have driven me crazy, its times like these that I am reminded of how sweet and innocent she really is!

2 Week Check-Up

It's hard to believe, but Reese had her two week check-up today. According to the doctor everything is looking good. She hasn't quite returned to her birthweight, but she eats like a pig so the doctor wasnt too worried. She weighed 8 lbs 12 oz and was 21 and 1/4 inches long! It's hard to believe that in two weeks she could have grown and inch and a half, but she has! From the looks of her feet, hands and growth, I have a feeling she is going to be one tall girl! One thing is for certain; If she doesn't slow down she is going to outgrow her "big" sister!

One Week:

Wow! It's hard to believe that our little Reese-a-roo is already a week old. This time last week I was sitting in my hospital bed in shock that she was here and in shock that she was as big and healthy as she was. So far, lfe with the little lady has been good. Reese is a pretty darn good baby. She has a bit of a gas problem, but I think we have found the solution. Reese is quite the sleeper, too. Last night was her first night to be cleared of jaundice so I was able to just let her sleep rather than waking her up every three hours. She slept from around 10:45 pm to 5 AM. I was shocked. I guess when you come into this world weighing 9 lbs you have a big enough belly to consume enough to sleep that long! Before we know it, she just might be sleeping through the night! Reese has also been doing good during the day, She has been an excellent tag-along to several events and playdates of Nora's which is great. So far, we are loving the new life we are living. I am totally enjoying the time home with my girls, and Nora is LOVING having her Mamma home to cater to her every want and need =0)
